Job Summary:
The Staff Accountant supports the accounting department by assisting with month-end closing activities, cash management, processing and approving accounts payable and performing other general accounting functions. This role requires a detail-oriented professional who can manage multiple tasks effectively and ensure accuracy in financial transactions.
Essential Functions:
• Monitors bank accounts daily and records all outgoing transactions.
• Assist with month-end closing procedures, including journal entries, reconciliations, and variance analyses.
• Prepares and manages daily cash activities, including monitoring bank accounts and recording outgoing transactions.
• Submits transactions for payments, and ACHs, and creates wire templates for banking.
• Prepares and closes accounts payable cutoff reports for the previous month.
• Maintains internal controls and ensures compliance with accounting policies.
• Assists in physical inventory counts and reconciles any discrepancies.
• Completes purchase order corrections, addressing laid-in cost errors as needed.
• Reconciles credit card transactions accurately and timely.
Required Education and Experience
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or equivalent preferred.
• Two or more years of work experience in an accounting or reporting role.
• Prior accounting experience, preferably in a distribution environment.
• Experience working in a multi-location environment is preferred.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office software, with advanced skills in MS Excel.
Physical Requirements:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
