What's the Role:
As a Design Engineer, you will be responsible for the design and engineering of products and services for manufacturing and sales. This includes providing technical support to sales teams and customers, as well as collecting data from customer sites to incorporate into designs and services. You’ll also bring back market ideas to improve products and services. Under the direction of the Engineering Manager, you’ll maintain design knowledge of all Mineral Processing products.
Effective communication between manufacturing, engineering, sales, and marketing teams is crucial. You’ll consult on techniques, timing, and follow-up under the guidance of the Engineering Manager. You will design new products, modify existing ones, and perform tasks such as solid modeling, detailed drafting, analysis/simulation, and site-based reverse engineering. Additionally, you’ll provide technical support to both internal and external customers, including on-site inspections and installations, and assist the sales team with technical matters.
You’ll prepare and maintain design knowledge to support sales and manufacturing, develop Bradken intellectual property, and participate in process improvements while adhering to quality and manufacturing standards. Coordinating new and optimized products through engineering and manufacturing processes, preparing technical documentation for product manufacture and use, ensuring drawing standards and engineering requirements are met, and controlling the issuance of technical documents and Bradken intellectual property related to license agreements are also key aspects of your role.
Capturing customer requirements and providing on-site technical support are essential to ensure customer needs are met effectively. You will have sound judgment and effective communication skills to collaborate with various teams and ensure high-quality standards.
Key Technical Criteria:
• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
• Experience working as a design or reliability engineer in a mining or heavy manufacturing environment
• Knowledge of mineral processing & material handling equipment and processes highly regarded.
• Experience in design engineering, product development and problem solving
• High level of proficiency in CAD including 3D modelling and 2D drafting preferably with Siemens NX or similar package
• Strong FEA and DEM skills desirable
