Global AIDS Interfaith Alliance (GAIA) in partnership with World Education Inc. /Bantwana Initiative (WEI/Bantwana) is implementing a USAID funded Ana Patsogolo Program/Project. The program sets out to change life trajectories for highly vulnerable Adolescent Girls and Young Women (AGYW)

in Phalombe District in the Southern Region of Malawi.

These populations live with escalated and intersecting risks for HIV infection, gender based violence and poor sexual and reproductive health and we need to provide solutions by integrating social protection supports and health services that will enable them not only adhere to treatment but also to

thrive to adulthood.

GAIA in partnership with Bantwana seeks to recruit highly motivated and suitably qualified individuals for the implementation of DREMS PROJECT through recruitment of District DREAMS Coordinator and District DREAMS Officer positions tenable in Phalombe District.

Job position: District DREAMS Officer

Reporting to: District DREAMS Coordinator,

Job Location: Phalombe District.

Job Summary.

The DREAMS Officer will be expected to champion day to day hands on project field activities in relation to the execution of all DREAMS activities for ANA Patsogolo Activity. The Officer will also support the District Health Teams to comprehensive DREAMS package to Adolescent Girls and Young Women (AGYW) and get timely technical support from WEI Technical Teams on the implementation of DREAMS and the layered programs.

Key Responsibilities

Produce programmatic activity monthly, monthly, quarterly, biannual and annual organizational reports free from error

Produce monthly reports

Produce quarterly reports

Take lead in, and provide overall oversight over and coordination of implementation of DREAMS services at health facilities for the project.

Working closely with FMP Facilitators, Education and Safe Schools Officers, Economic Strengthening Officers and Case Management Officers in the DREAMS enrollment, programing and reporting

Build the capacity of the District teams, Facility and community health workers to provide services on DREAMS initiative as per the National guidelines

Provide technical assistance for DREAMS services through trainings and on site mentorship activities using the national curriculum, guidelines and protocols

In collaboration with the M&E team, ensure that reporting and documentation of results from the DREAMS implementation is done timely and is of acceptable quality (ensuring accuracy and timeliness), ensuring timely updated of the DREAMS tracker

Closely coordinate with Ministry of Health and roll out the implementation of DREAMS services

Work closely with the project M&E team to ensure regular updates of the DREAMS tracker and accurate and timely reporting.

Strengthen referral and linkages between health facility and community service delivery points for the identified AGYW

Work closely with service provision partners and other contextual programs within WEI

Support establishment of community and facility Quality Improvement teams to support implementation of AGYW risk reduction plans

Strengthen coordination among other DREAM partners in the region

Develop plans and budgets and submit quarterly, annual and adhoc DREAMS progress reports.

Represent the project at DREAMS meetings including Ministry of Health and USAID DREAMS technical working group activities.

Conduct operational research activities involving the project supported health facilities Identify and document best practices

Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor

Qualifications and abilities

Bachelor’s Degree in Gender, Public Health, Social and/or Behavioral Sciences or a related field, with specific emphasis on community-level health promotion and/or education.

Those with DREAMS implementation experience to have an added advantage

Training and knowledge in community HIV/AIDS prevention and working with Adolescent Girls and Young Women (AGYW).

Experience in gender and gender-based violence programming.

Minimum of 3 years’ experience in NGO and HIV environment.

A strong team player with excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work in a high profile, fast-paced environment.

Ability to communicate (verbally and in writing) technical issues effectively and persuasively.

Fluency in the local language and English for day-to-day communication.

Ability to use MS Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint).
