We are seeking a proactive and experienced Operations Officer to join our customs clearing company in Dar es Salaam. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of customs processes, logistics, and import/export regulations in Tanzania. You must bring a client portfolio and have the ability to expand our customer base. This role demands logical thinking, attention to detail, and the ability to ensure smooth coordination of customs clearance operations.
Responsibilities:
• Oversee the end-to-end customs clearing process for imported/exported goods, ensuring compliance with Tanzania's customs laws and regulations.
• Maintain strong relationships with current clients and develop new business opportunities to expand the client base.
• Liaise with Tanzania Revenue Authority (TRA), Tanzania Bureau of Standards (TBS), and other relevant government authorities to ensure timely clearance of goods.
• Ensure that all customs documentation, including declarations, permits, and licenses are properly prepared, submitted, and tracked.
• Coordinate with shipping agents, transporters, and freight forwarders to manage logistics and delivery schedules.
• Provide regular updates and reports to clients on shipment status, delays, and issues.
• Handle any disputes or issues that arise with customs clearance, ensuring swift resolution.
• Maintain accurate records of all transactions, documentation, and communications related to customs operations.
• Develop and implement efficient processes to minimize delays and reduce operational costs.
• Keep up-to-date with any changes in customs laws, regulations, and tariffs, and advise management and clients accordingly
