African Parks in Malawi manages Majete Wildlife Reserve, Nkhotakota Wildlife Reserves and Liwonde National Park.
African Parks – Nkhotakota Wildlife Reserve invites suitably qualified, experienced and passionate Malawians to fill the following vacant position.
FENCE MAINTENANCE SUPERVISOR
Reporting to: Technical Supervisor / Field Operations Manager
Location: Nkhotakota Wildlife Reserve
Job Responsibilities
• * Prepare firebreaks and repair/maintain roads
• Conversant with Solar powered installation.
• Be able to install energizers in game fencing shock boxes
• Manage and oversee the day-to-day fencing works
• Supervises all Fence Zone Supervisors
• Ensure that all fencing zones are efficiently and effectively managed
• Ensure that the entire perimeter reserve fence is active at all times and the fence line is clear from overgrowth
• Support the Zones supervisors in their official needs ie tools, equipment and materials.
• Be prudent with resources and being watchful that theft is not tolerated.
• Perform any other duties related to conservation in the reserve as required by the management.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills
• Strong personal integrity and dependability.
• Ability to be organized, flexible, self-motivated and work effectively with minimum supervision
• Ability to work for long periods in very remote and physically demanding circumstances at unusual working hours.
Qualification and Experience
• * Diploma in Electrical Engineering and a year’s work experience in game fencing.
• Grade 1 Trade Test Certificate in Electrical Installation with a minimum qualification of Malawi School Certification of Education and 3 years’ work experience in game fencing.
• Must be computer literate
• Those with driver’s license will have added advantage
