Founded in 1987, AIDS Healthcare Foundation (AHF) is a global organization providing cutting-edge medicine and advocacy to over 1, 600.000 people in 44 countries, In Malawi. AHF is working in partnership with the Ministry of Health (MOH) to strengthen access to quality HIVI AIDS, Tuberculosis (TB) and Sexually Transmitted Infections (STI) treatment. AHF Malawi is providing prevention, treatment and retention services to 34.000 active ART clients in 21 hard to reach health facilities in Dedza, Lilongwe, Ntcheu, Chikwawa and Nsanje Districts.AHF Malawi wishes to recruit highly qualified and experienced persons to fill the following positions in order to achieve its objectives in the country.CLINICAL OFFICERS (1 Position)Position Title: Clinical OfficerReports to: Regional Medical OfficerDuty Station: Trinity Hospital, NsanjeOverall ResponsibilitiesTo provide comprehensive and integrated clinical care to HIV positive individuals, and strengthen efficiency and effectiveness in the delivery of quality clinical services in AHF supported sitesEssential Duties & Responsibilities:Provide clinical care to ART clients as per Ministry of Health protocols and guidelinesDetermine the need for further patient examinations and laboratory investigations; interpret findings and provide appropriate care to patients basing on the results of the investigationsRefer patients with conditions beyond his/her capacity to medical specialist or other practitioners for specialized treatment.Advise patients concerning diet, hygiene, methods for prevention of diseases, drug adherence and disclosure, and all elements that are critical for positive livingSupport the clinic in establishing effective patient follow up mechanisms, and ways of retaining all patients in careAssist counselors with disclosure of HIV status to pediatric clientsContribute to clinical growth of the organization and staff by attending clinic case conferences and team meetings.Contribute to professional development of staff under his/her supervisionMaintain accurate clinic records, compile and subrnit weekly, monthly and quarterly reports as per MOH and AHF requirementsWork with the clinic in-charge to ensure al supplies required for the smoothing running of the clinic are available at all times.Strengthen partnership between AHF and other partners, including Ministry of Health officialsEducation and ExperienceDiploma in Clinic Medicine with a minimum of 3 – 5 years’ experience in HIV care and treatment. Must be trained in pediatric and adult HIV Management. Those trained in Advanced HIV disease management will have an added advantage. Demonstrated leadership skills with sound knowledge in the basic medical disciplines to allow for accurate diagnosis and appropriate management of clinical problems.
