Position Overview: ForAfrica Operations is seeking a dynamic and results-driven Information Management Specialist to support and enhance the effectiveness of our humanitarian and emergency response efforts across multiple countries. In this role, you will play a crucial part in gathering, analyzing, and sharing critical data to ensure evidence-based decision-making and coordinated responses to crises. This position offers a unique opportunity to directly contribute to the alleviation of human suffering and promote sustainable development across Africa.

Key Responsibilities

Data Collection and Management (35%)

Lead the coordination of data collection, storage, analysis, and reporting for disaster management initiatives.

Design and implement efficient data collection tools and processes to maintain high-quality and accurate data.

Regularly validate, clean, and update databases and information systems to ensure data integrity.

Generate user-friendly reports, dashboards, and insights to guide decision-making.

Data Analysis and Reporting (20%)

Analyze collected data to identify trends, gaps, and urgent needs within the context of humanitarian operations.

Provide actionable, data-driven insights and recommendations to support strategic decision-making for emergency response teams.

Prepare regular reports to aid in planning and monitoring humanitarian projects.

Information Dissemination (20%)

Develop and manage platforms for information sharing, such as web portals and geographic information systems (GIS).

Ensure timely and accurate dissemination of key information, including maps, infographics, and situation reports.

Collaborate in the creation and distribution of information products for internal and external stakeholders.

Coordination and Collaboration (10%)

Work closely with ForAfrica teams, humanitarian agencies, and partners to gather, standardize, and share information.

Participate in inter-agency meetings focused on information management, ensuring alignment across different organizations.

Facilitate the exchange of critical data between various stakeholders to improve emergency response coordination.

Technical Support and Capacity Building (30%)

Provide technical support and training to staff and partners on best practices and tools for information management.

Develop and implement strategies for data system management and integration during humanitarian crises.

Deploy to crisis-affected areas as needed to establish and maintain effective information management systems.

Ensure accurate and timely information is available to support emergency response efforts.

Additional Responsibilities (5%)

Participate in relevant committees and task forces as needed.

Carry out additional duties as assigned by supervisors or designees.

Qualifications And Experience

At least 1 year of experience in disaster management programming, project management, or a related field.

Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize in high-pressure situations.

Self-motivated and capable of working both independently and as part of a team.

Experience in using data management and analysis tools effectively.

Education & Certifications

A Bachelor’s degree in social sciences, information management, statistics, or a related field is required.

Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), statistical tools, and Adobe Creative Suite.

Training or certification in Portfolio or Project Management is a plus.

Preferred Knowledge And Skills

Understanding of project management principles, especially in international development and relief projects.

Strong budgetary and financial management skills.

Proficiency in written and spoken English.

Ability to deliver results in complex environments and solve problems using independent judgment.

Creativity in presenting data and producing insightful reports.

Work Environment & Travel

This role is primarily office-based, but up to 20% travel may be required to various regions.

On-call availability is necessary to support emergency response efforts as needed.
