Long Bay Beach Resort, a luxury boutique resort located in Road Town, Tortola, is seeking an experienced and dynamic Rooms Manager to join our team. Our resort features 37 luxurious beachside villas and hillside suites, offering guests stunning views of the crystal blue ocean along the picturesque Long Bay Beach. As we continue our journey of development and expansion to become an iconic destination in the British Virgin Islands, we are looking for a talented individual to lead the daily operations of our housekeeping and laundry division.
Objectives and Purpose of Job:
The Rooms Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the Rooms Division, including housekeeping and laundry departments, ensuring a high standard of cleanliness, guest satisfaction, and operational efficiency. The Rooms Manager will ensure that all guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house areas are maintained to the highest standards.
Roles and Responsibilities:
• Oversee the daily operations of the housekeeping and laundry departments to ensure all areas of the hotel are clean, well-maintained, and ready for guest use.
• Supervise the cleaning and preparation of guest rooms and public areas according to hotel standards.
• Coordinate with the front desk and maintenance teams to ensure timely room readiness and address guest issues promptly.
• Monitor and manage inventory for housekeeping supplies, linen, and guest amenities.
• Lead, train, and motivate housekeeping and laundry staff to deliver exceptional service and maintain high operational standards.
• Manage staff scheduling, workload distribution, and shift assignments to ensure adequate coverage and smooth operations.
• Conduct regular performance reviews, provide feedback, and identify development opportunities for team members.
• Perform regular inspections of guest rooms, public areas, and laundry facilities to ensure cleanliness and adherence to company standards.
• Implement procedures to maintain consistency in service quality and identify areas for improvement.
• Handle guest complaints or special requests related to housekeeping and laundry services in a professional and timely manner.
• Monitor and control the housekeeping and laundry budgets, including labor costs, supply expenses, and laundry operations.
• Work closely with the finance team to review and analyze financial reports, identify cost saving opportunities, and optimize operational efficiency.
• Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations, including fire safety, hazardous materials handling, and workplace safety standards in housekeeping and laundry operations.
• Implement and maintain procedures for proper handling, cleaning, and storage of cleaning supplies and linens.
• Ensure rooms are ready for guest check-ins according to hotel standards, with attention to detail in cleanliness and guest preferences.
• Continuously evaluate guest feedback and implement service improvements to enhance guest satisfaction in the rooms department.
Qualifications and Requirements:
● Minimum 5 years’ experience in the hospitality industry
● Experience at a luxury resort
● High level of attention to detail and commitment to maintaining the highest cleanliness standards.
● Experience in Property Management Systems a plus
● Microsoft suite versed
● Excellent customer service skills
● Leadership skills
● Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact with guests, staff, and other departments.
● Must be able to work a flexible work schedule and be willing to be on call
● Must be able to stand/ be on their feet for long hours
