Cheezious is seeking a dynamic and innovative " Manager - Environment, Health and Safety", responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining comprehensive safety and environmental policies to ensure regulatory compliance and reduce workplace risks. This role oversee risk assessments, safety audits, and training programs, while leading emergency preparedness and sustainability initiatives. The role also involves fostering a culture of safety and environmental responsibility across the organization.
Responsibilities
• Develop, implement, and maintain health and safety policies and procedures in compliance with local, provincial, and federal regulations.
• Ensure compliance with local, national, and international health and safety regulations (e.g. NEBOSH, OSHA, Industrial Health and safety standards).
• Monitor and update safety procedures as regulations change or new risks are identified.
• Conduct regular risk assessments to identify potential hazards in the workplace, such as slip and fall risks, environmental safety issues, and equipment-related hazards
• Organize training programs for employees on emergency procedures and safety practices, including material handling, fire safety, emergency response, and workplace ergonomics.
• Lead investigations of accidents, incidents, and near-misses to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
• Develop and implement emergency response plans, including evacuation procedures, fire drills, and first-aid protocols.
• Develop strategies to minimize the environmental impact of restaurant operations, including waste management, energy conservation, and water usage.
• Maintain accurate records of health and safety activities, including training, inspections, incidents, and compliance.
• Act as the point of contact with local health departments, fire marshals, and other regulatory bodies during inspections or audits.
Qualifications & Experience
• Bachelor’s degree in occupational health and safety, environmental science, or a related field.
• 7+ years of experience in health and safety role, preferably in the hospitality or restaurant industry.
• Strong leadership and team management skills.
• Ability to analyze data and trends to identify areas for improvement.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively convey safety information to staff and management
