Purpose of the Role.
The Paramedic will ensure the emergency response program at Geita Gold Mine meets international standards for efficiency and effectiveness, facilitating optimal operations.
Qualifications.
- Secondary Education completion with a Diploma in Nursing or as a Clinical Officer, along with Paramedic training.
Relevant certifications (BLS, ACLS, ITLS, and critical care monitoring) from accredited authorities.
- Registration with the Medical Council of Tanganyika or the Tanzania Nurses and Midwifery Council.
- A valid Tanzanian Driving License (Class B & D) and successful completion of a site driving assessment.
Experience.
- A minimum of 3 years in a clinical or emergency setting.
- Experience in remote healthcare provision and emergency medical services.
- Familiarity with health promotion programs and first aid training.
- Knowledge of health administration, hygiene, and sanitation.
Key Responsibilities.
- Respond to all medical emergencies on site and participate as a member of the mine rescue team.
- Assist in inspecting emergency equipment and managing safe storage.
- Develop and implement daily, weekly, and monthly activity plans.
- Conduct regular inspections of emergency equipment.
- Perform clinical functions such as taking patient histories, vital signs, and administering medications.
- Educate patients and their families on preventive health care practices.
- Support medical practitioners during procedures and assist in patient transportation as needed.
- Maintain cleanliness and adherence to infection control protocols in all working areas.
- Monitor the Emergency Response system and recommend improvements based on compliance audits.
- Train rescue teams and ensure readiness for evacuations and drills.
- Compile health statistics and oversee daily equipment checks.
- Maintain effective communication with the Staff Physician regarding medical issues.

- Team player with a positive attitude and high integrity.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent physical fitness and ability to work independently.
- Capable of driving on site and adapting to new challenges.
