Position Description

Reporting to the Director of Career Development, the Career Coach
at Eastern University is a critical member of the Center for Career
Development (CCD) team, responsible for guiding and supporting
non-traditional undergraduate and graduate students as well as
Eastern University alumni in their journey to discover, develop,
and achieve their career goals. The ideal candidate will possess
experience in mentoring and coaching adult students, a deep
knowledge of career development in diverse, non-traditional
populations, and a commitment to helping students and alumni reach
their full potential. This is a remote position.

Position Responsibilities
• Provide synchronous and asynchronous one-on-one career coaching
to non-traditional undergraduate and graduate students as well as
Eastern alumni, helping them identify their interests and career
aspirations.
• Assist in creating individualized career development plans for
students and alumni across all Colleges.
• Offer guidance on effective job search strategies, resume and
cover letter writing, interview preparation, and networking
techniques. Stay up-to-date with current industry trends and job
market dynamics.
• Plan and conduct online workshops, seminars, events, and
webinars on various career-related topics, such as job search
techniques, interview skills, and career exploration/career
changing.
• Demonstrate creative and flexible problem-solving skills in
order to meet unique student needs.
• Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of career coaching
services and programs.
• Curate and create career-related resources, including online
materials and informational guides, to support non-traditional
students and alumni in their career development.
• Maintain accurate records of student interactions and outcomes
using Handshake.
• Produce reports as requested for Director of CCD, VP, and/or
University Leadership.
• Collaborate with CCD, Student Development team, academic
departments, Center for Teaching, Learning, and Technology (CTLT),
Advising, Alumni office, and others to support student and alumni
success as well as promote career development resources.
• Represent CCD at online Enrollment/Admissions events (open
houses, LifeFlex events, etc.) as needed.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
• Strong interpersonal skills and high emotional intelligence,
with the ability to build rapport with online diverse adult,
non-traditional student populations.
• Familiarity with current job market trends and
industry-specific requirements to support Eastern’s existing and
future academic programs.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills.
• Strong online engagement skills to drive online student support
via Zoom, Handshake, Brightspace, Big Interview, and other online
platforms.
• Proficiency in using career services software and digital
communication tools.
• Demonstrates empathy and care while providing positive support
and guidance to intersectional, diverse students and alumni
throughout all levels of career development.
• Ability to coach others on resume writing/cover letters,
conducting an effective job search, interviewing techniques, career
changing, networking, and graduate school applications.
• Sensitive and responsive to the needs of first-generation,
marginalized, neurodiverse, and high-touch populations.
• Availability to work evening hours multiple days per week to
serve the non-traditional student/alumni population.

Minimum Required Qualifications:
• 2-5 years of experience in university career development,
recruiting, university student support, and/or human
resources.
• Demonstrated experience and record of success in proactive
support, coaching, training, and/or education of adult,
non-traditional and/or graduate learners.
• Master’s degree in higher education, counseling, or related
field preferred; significant related professional experience
combined with a bachelor's degree considered
