Our best-selling books require great brains to make them, and we’re currently looking for STEM specialists to play a key part in creating our exciting products. If you have exceptional writing skills and you’re keen to use your subject knowledge, this might be just the role for you.
As a Content Creator, you’ll produce brilliant material for pupils of all ages, from primary school to A-level, and all in our distinctive house style. If you have a good degree in a STEM subject (Physics or Chemistry knowledge is particularly handy) and a knack for picking up new software, we’d love to hear from you — even if you’ve never considered publishing before.
This is a 12-month role and can be offered remotely, though full training will be provided at our Lake District offices for your first few weeks (we’ll sort out accommodation for you). After that, we’ll make sure you have all the kit and support you need to succeed. Flexible hours and part-time working options are also a possibility for the right person.
In this role, you’ll create educational science/maths content in our distinctive house style for both print and digital publications. This’ll include:
- Writing text from scratch, as well as editing content that has already been writte
- Typesetting content in our software packages, in particular Adobe InDesign
- Creating graphics using software packages
- Producing content for educational videos, e.g. writing audio scripts, animating PowerPoints
- Completing other publishing tasks when required, e.g. filling in copyright request forms, page referencing
- A great handle on spelling, punctuation and grammar
- A clear and concise writing style
- An in-depth understanding of your specialist STEM subject (degree-educated)
- An aptitude for learning new software (but we’ll teach you our particular packages)
- An eagerness to get to grips with and then reproduce our unique house style
- Good time management and the ability to meet deadlines
- Minimum 2:1 degree in a STEM subject — physics and chemistry are particularly desirable
