The Opportunity
The Team
Our litigation team advises on all types of large-scale commercial disputes and is the first port of call for clients with significant litigious problems. Through collaborating with other practice areas, we provide a unique full-service offering to clients. Our depth of expertise and diversity across a range of sectors and industries enables us to have a good understanding of issues that our clients may face. We provide specialist advice across industries, and offer commercially focused and practical solutions for complex disputes affecting our clients’ interests across industries, geographic locations and jurisdictions, including cross-border matters at the intersection of domestic and international legal orders.
The Opportunity
This is an exciting opportunity to join our leading Band 1 and award winning Dispute Resolution team as Professional Support Lawyer based in our Hong Kong office. You will work closely with our partners and lawyers across Asia region and globally to provide a wide range of education, know-how and business development initiatives, with the primary aim of providing support to our growing international disputes teams in Asia.
The Professional Support Lawyer will primarily offer the team support in know-how and training. You will also contribute to the development and implementation of the practice's strategy, innovation, and business development initiatives. In brief, responsibilities include but are not limited to:
• Supporting the Hong Kong litigation practice group in relation to internal know-how, internal training (both legal technical and skills-related), client-facing thought leadership, knowledge management and client training.
• Drafting Hong Kong court model forms and precedents.
• Collecting and organising general Hong Kong litigation know-how; contributing to the firm's legal information database; working alongside the Knowledge team in managing the firm's library resources.
• Monitoring major developments of law/Hong Kong court practice, newly added judgments, court practice directions and the Judiciary's announcements/various initiatives.
• Coordinating and managing the dissemination of current Hong Kong legal and market practice information, e.g. through regular internal newsletters, seminars/webinars and email briefings.
• Producing content for business development and brand awareness, e.g. bulletins/blogposts/articles and accompanying social media posts.
• Working closely with Business Development to prepare client presentations, bulletins/blogposts/articles, client briefings and other publications where required.
• Working closely with Learning & Development to further associates' professional development and skillsets, e.g. conducting skillset gap analysis, create learning schedules, etc.
• Working alongside Human Resources to prepare technical assessments for lateral candidates and marking or attending interviews relating to the same.
• Working with the wider HSF network and acting as "port of call" for connecting the firm's existing specialists to procure relevant information for fee earners.
• Organising and hosting the Hong Kong litigation practice group meetings.
• Assisting with ad hoc know-how, practice management and other projects, e.g. in relation to new offices/teams, integration matters, recruitment, individual performance related coaching and mentoring as required.
To be successful in this role, you will have excellent stakeholder engagement skills and a continuous improvement focus. You will also have:
• Law degree and relevant practice experience working at a leading disputes practice;
• 4+ years post qualification experience from private practice;
• Understanding and appreciation of the value of legal or professional services knowledge management;
• An excellent client manner and have demonstrated success in managing and building strong relationships with both colleagues and clients;
• A proactive approach and desire to be an integral member of our leading and supportive team;
• Have fluent written and spoken English and Mandarin skills.
