• *_Summary:_**
Under general supervision, provides Human Resources support and assistance
covering various human resource functions including but not limited to:
recruiting, selection and staffing, onboarding, orientation, employment and
personnel documentation, benefits administration, training, project research
and policy administration; The HR Generalist may be responsible for some or
all of the duties outlined in this job description, but the responsibilities
may vary by work location
• *_Essential Duties and Responsibilities:_**
Partners with HR Leadership and other HR team members to develop and drive HR
programs and services in assigned Community/Service
Coordinates administrative recruitment efforts with Community/Service and HR
Leadership which could include determining hiring needs, screening resumes,
initial interviews or leading the group interview process, compensation review
and discussing candidate selection with hiring managers
Responds to employee questions, suggestions, and concerns in a timely manner,
referring to HR shared service center when needed; Provides guidance to
leaders and employees on applicable HR policies and processes
Assists with the new hire process including the generation of offer letters,
processing data in the HRIS system (i.e. Workday) to generate background
checks; coordinating all pre-employment requirements (i.e. vaccination
requirements, employment verifications, etc.); reviews background screening
results to hiring standards and determines candidate status; Prepares new hire
onboarding materials, delivers new hire orientation, and assists in the
preparation of new hire announcements
Ensures that HR policies and procedures are applied uniformly within area of
responsibility; Assists with managing employee relations issues and provides
appropriate counseling
May coordinate, deliver, or enhance training programs and activities designed
to provide employees and managers with the skills and knowledge necessary to
effectively achieve individual and organizational goals
Maintains employee personnel/medical/benefits/state files ensuring appropriate
documents are filed timely and accurately; ensures the security and
confidentiality of personnel files and information
Understands and utilizes benefits and compensation information to address
employee questions
Actively participates with the HR Director in developing department goals,
objectives and HR systems and processes; Recommends new approaches, policies,
and procedures to effect continuous improvement in efficiency of the
department and services performed
Plans, manages, and communicates special projects and programs such as
employee recognition, wellness, benefits (annual flu shots, open enrollment
meetings, etc.) and employee surveys
Responds to external HR-related requests: verifications of employment, child
support orders, wage garnishments, etc.
Responsible for ensuring all Federal and State postings are displayed as
required, keeps the company bulletin board postings current
Responsible for managing reports and determining if measurements or metrics
needs to be altered; Provides recommendations upon review of the data; Works
on creating ad hoc reports as needed
May be responsible for processing tuition reimbursement requests, ensuring all
documentation is correct
May manage leave of absence requests
May be responsible for conducting staff exit interviews
• * _Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:_**
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each
essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are
representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.
-Bachelor’s degree strongly preferred (ideally in the field of Human Resources)
-Minimum two years of Human Resources experience (preferably in a healthcare setting)
-Previous experience in HRIS and applicant tracking systems preferred (Workday experience preferred)
-Experience dealing with a variety of employees and human resource situations
-Must possess knowledge and/or experience in the various technical aspects of Human Resource Management (employee relations, learning and development, compensation, recruitment, benefits)
-Working knowledge of EEOC requirements, employment law, workers' compensation; ADA; FMLA and COBRA and HIPAA regulations
-Strong communication skills – verbal, oral and written, presentation; ability to communicate clearly and accurately at all levels of the organization
-Computer skills, advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office
-Independent worker, excellent judgment; able to follow instructions and work without close supervision
-Ability to work flexible hours as required
