PROJECT BACKGROUND
Through the Honduras JHRSS Activity, the DAI team will support USAID/Honduras to create more effective and accountable judicial and security sector organizations in order to curb violence in target areas, reduce impunity, and protect human rights. JHRSS works in the five target municipalities of Tegucigalpa, San Pedro Sula, Choloma, Tela, and La Ceiba.
POSITION OVERVIEW
JHRSS has identified the need for a Communications Specialist to help amplify the project’s messaging to the Honduran public through the development of communications strategies and the production of public relations materials, primarily for online platforms. The Specialist will support the JHRSS technical team’s implementation of online and in-person activities.
OBJECTIVES AND DUTIES
• Manage JHRSS’ social media presence, including design and production of graphics and writing of text, and the collaborative development of strategic communications campaigns.
• Develop social media content plans and a communications events calendar and provide them to the Communications Advisor.
• Support the Communications Advisor in ensuring that all Unidos’ communications materials are in compliance with USAID branding and marking guidelines, and provide grantee organizations and other counterparts with technical support in the production of communications products.
• Support JHRSS technical staff in the implementation of project activities via the production of invitations, agendas, presentations, graphics, and audio-visual materials.
• Support JHRSS technical staff in the implementation of online events and activities such as workshops, seminars, and presentations using Facebook Live, MS Teams or other online platforms.
• Support collection of photographic, video, and written documentation required for the conceptualization and the production of success stories, website material and social media posts.
• Act as technical counterpart of JHRSS for procurement processes related to printed and audiovisual material.
• Maintain an up-to-date JHRSS online presence via the Activity’s webpage.
• Other responsibilities as defined by the Communications Advisor or the COP.
QUALIFICATIONS
• Communicator with graphic design skills
• Fluency in English
• Excellent writing, editing, and translation abilities, in both English and Spanish
• Experience with online platforms and WordPress websites
• At least five years of experience in communications
• At least three years of experience in USAID communications
