This school is based in Luanda, Angola and is looking for a Secondary School Principal

Luanda International School is seeking a new Secondary Principal to begin in August 2025, to lead the Secondary School (Years 7-13). This is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic instructional leader to join a collaborative leadership team in implementing the school’s strategic goals. The Secondary School Principal will work closely with the Director, the Secondary School Leadership Team (Deputy Principal, MYP Coordinator, DP Coordinator), the Primary Principal and other senior leaders to lead the school forward aligned with the school’s mission and values. This senior administrative position will provide outstanding dedicated leadership for the students, faculty, staff and families of the Secondary School. The ideal candidate will be experienced with the Middle Years and Diploma Programmes, and will provide visionary leadership for contemporary approaches to teaching and learning, as well as a commitment to developing inclusive practices in the secondary school.

• An approachable, visible, and collaborative leadership style that genuinely invites and respects the diverse perspectives of others and builds a culture of trust

• Demonstrates genuine care for students across the developmental changes of this age group of Years 7-13 and enjoys connecting with students

• An experienced, progressive educational leader with a proven background in facilitating improvement of student learning and academic excellence

• Demonstrated commitment to developing an inclusive school culture that provides authentic opportunities for student involvement and provides differentiated support for diverse learning needs

• Cultural competencies to support equity and belonging for a diverse international community

• Experience in recruiting secondary school educators and supporting their professional development and growth

• Capacity to collaborate and contribute to strategic work within the Senior Leadership Team and at the Board level to bring about sustainable change

• Eagerness to be an active part of the community, build relationships, attend tournaments, performances, events and generally contribute to wider school life

• Experience with the Middle Years Programme and the Diploma Programme preferred

• Effective written and oral communication skills in English, and Portuguese is a plus

• Teaching experience

• Sense of humour

• An advanced degree in Education or a related field

• International experience of at least 5 years in a similar position
