The Mathematics and Statistics Department is hiring qualified Graduate Teaching Assistants.
Job Summary
The primary function of a graduate teaching assistant (GTA) is to provide direct instruction. GTAs have the latitude to make independent decisions, use judgment and exercise discretion when dealing with student matters. In either case, the main purpose and responsibility of GTAs is to impart knowledge or training to students at Wichita State University.
Job Duties
This position will teach either one five-hour course or two three-hour courses each semester, work one hour a week in the Math Lab, and attend teaching assistant meetings. Teaching assistants are expected to be enrolled in a minimum of nine hours of course work in mathematics and statistics. PhD students are expected to attend the weekly departmental colloquium talks.

Required Experience
To be eligible for an assistantship, students must be admitted to a degree program in either full or conditional standing. Students admitted on probation or placed on academic probation following admission may be eligible for assistantship awards under certain circumstances.
Physical Requirements
Ability to remain in a stationary position. Ability to operate a computer and other office equipment including but not limited to phone, printers, copiers, and calculators. Ability to communicate with others and accurately exchange information
