Relief Social Care Assistant
Hours are offered on an as and when required basis
£12.73 per hour (including Distant Islands Allowance)
A shift allowance will be paid for unsocial hours worked where appropriate
We are looking for an enthusiastic person to undertake social care responsibilities providing continuous care to the frail, elderly and those with dementia in the following residential care establishments:
Smiddybrae House in Dounby;
Hamnavoe House in Stromness;
St Rognvald's House in Kirkwall;
Kalisgarth Care Centre in Westray;
Sunnybrae Centre in Kirkwall; and
Braeburn Court in St Margaret’s Hope.
You will be required to carry out tasks and duties delegated by senior staff in an effective and efficient manner ensuring at all times the social and domestic care needs of service users. You will observe the principles of confidentiality in all aspects of practice and ensure the safety and comfort of service users, attending to their general care and well being; including assisting with personal care in keeping with the standards of care required by the Social Care and Social Work Improvement Scotland (SCWIS).
Relevant experience in a similar post would be an advantage.
You should hold a minimum of SVQ Level II in Care or other relevant qualification to enable registration with the SSSC as a Support Worker in a Care Home service for Adults or be able to achieve this within 5 years. You must also register with the SSSC as a Support Worker within six months of appointment.
The post is subject to Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme in respect of regulated work with adults.
