Job Summary: The Financial Accountant is responsible for managing SGI’s financial transactions, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and producing financial statements. The role includes handling tax matters, audit preparation, and maintaining financial controls.
Key Duties and Responsibilities: The financial accountant oversees
• Financial Transaction Management
• Financial Reporting and Compliance
• Audit and Internal Controls
• Accounts Reconciliation
Duty/Responsibility
• Oversee all financial transactions, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, and payroll, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
• Maintain the general ledger and reconcile all accounts to ensure financial data integrity.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
• Ensure compliance with tax laws, filing accurate and timely tax returns, including VAT, PAYE, and corporate tax.
• Coordinate internal and external audits, ensuring that all financial records and procedures are in compliance with regulatory requirements.
• Implement and monitor internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure the integrity of financial records.
• Ensure timely reconciliation of bank statements, supplier accounts, and customer accounts.
• Investigate and resolve any discrepancies or errors in financial records.
• Supervise the Accounts Assistant, providing guidance and ensuring the accuracy of financial transactions and records
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
• Minimum of 3 to 4 years of work experience as a Financial Accountant in a busy manufacturing environment preferably a FCMG
Educational Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
• Professional accounting qualifications such as ACCA or CPA
