ABOUT THE COMPANY
German-Ugandan development cooperation dates back to 1964, two years after the East African state declared its independence. Today, 25 international experts, 20 development workers and 102 national personnel work for GIZ in Uganda. These are complemented by eight integrated experts placed through the Centre for International Migration and Cooperation (CIM).
JOB SUMMARY
The focus of the program "Peaceful reappraisal and transformation of past and present conflicts over natural resources in northern Uganda" is the prevention and resolution of conflicts over natural resources in the Teso, Karamoja and Acholi regions. The focus is on supporting interest groups - made up of representatives of civil society, local governments and traditional authorities - in resolving land conflicts. Resolving current conflicts includes reappraising the violent past, which continues to have an impact on today's conflicts.RequirementsUniversity degree in social/political/cultural sciences or comparable professional qualifications, preferably with a focus on peace and conflict researchSeveral years of work experience in civil conflict management/peace work abroad, experience as a specialist in the Civil Peace Service is desirableExperience in project management, conflict-sensitive project management as well as team and personnel managementKnowledge and practical experience in project management and financial managementregional knowledgeHigh consulting skills, team orientation and intercultural sensitivityFluent German and English skills
RESPONSIBILITIES
Management and further development of the ZFD programme in Uganda based on the approved ZFD applications and the cross-provider ZFD strategyExchange and networking with existing and potential cooperation partnersRepresentation of the ZFD vis-à-vis the German Embassy, implementing organisations and relevant governmental and non-governmental institutions in coordination with the GIZ Country DirectorateSupporting ZFD experts and partners in the impact-oriented planning and monitoring of ZFD measuresManagement of the ZFD's knowledge management and public relations work in the country as well as support within the framework of the ZFD global programPersonnel management and support of national and international ZFD specialists as well as administrative staffManagement of the ZFD office structure at the three locations Soroti, Moroto and GuluBudget responsibility: Ensuring the earmarked use of funds, financial planning and monitoring as well as accountability
