Injection Molding Production Manager
Job Summary
We’re looking for a proven leader who’s eager to grow, manage, and inspire a group that includes Plastic Manufacturing, a Mold Tool Engineer, and a Tool Room Manager with previous automotive manufacturing experience. As a hands-on Injection Molding Production Manager, you’ll get the opportunity to shape and implement standard processes for tooling and molding as well as make key decisions regarding in-house production and vendor procurement.
You’ll be a key member of the leadership team and an integral part of helping our company achieve short-term production targets and longer-term growth and sustainability goals.
Job Responsibilities:
• Monitor and manage the work assignments for the Production, Tool, Set-up and Plastic Manufacturing
• Monitor and manage the inventory of the Tool, including perishable tooling, mold and die components, operating supplies, and capital expenditures.
• Monitor and assist with the establishment of tool samples and design experiments for new and existing molds.
• Coordinate and manage the tooling demands and requirements for the manufacturing facility and support the molding operations.
• Coordinate and implement standard processes for tooling, molding, and process controls between company molding locations.
• Manage tooling and piece part cost estimates for the company along with external vendor(s).
• Collaborate with staff to determine whether tooling should be manufactured in-house or procured from outside vendor(s).
• Lead project management of work taking place at outside vendors.
Job Skills & Qualifications:
• Preferred but not required:
• Tool/Design Engineering Desired.
• Continuous Improvement and Lean Manufacturing experience.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Manufacturing/Operations) with emphasis in Plastic Injection Molding.
• 10 years’ experience with 5 years or more experience managing plastics molding department(s) and/or tool room(s).
• Strong management and leadership skills
FUNCTIONS:
• Responsible for productivity of manufacturing area
• Responsible for utilization of manpower in production area
• Responsible for staffing of manpower for production
• Responsible for producing defect free product to customer requirements
• Reviews customer issues and works with Quality Manager to implement proper countermeasure to correct such issues
• Works closely with Production Planning on scheduling and capacity concerns
• Responsible for implementing safety and ergonomics program in production area
• Responsible for strict adherence to 5S practices in production area
• Helps establish budget numbers for production area
• Works closely with Process Manager on any technical issues (process, tooling, mechanical, etc.)
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Responsible for daily and weekly reports to Plant Manager
• Responsible for monthly reports to Top Management
• Attends departmental and interdepartmental meetings as necessary
• Attends training classes and may assist in training of other Associates
• Coaching and counseling of associates (both hourly and salaried)
• Communicates with vendors or suppliers as necessary
• 5S must be a priority
• Any other duties as assigned by Plant Manager
