We are recruiting to fill the position below:
Job Summary
• Fish farm assistants assist the farm manager to breed and rear fish in ponds and tanks.
Job Responsibilities
• Feeding fish by hand
• Grading fish by size, moving them to bigger tanks or ponds
• Checking and maintaining water quality
• Checking fish for disease, preventing and treating infection
• Making sure hygiene standards are high, to prevent disease
• Draining and cleaning tanks, filters and nets
• Washing the ponds
• Keeping records of the numbers and sizes of fish stocked
• Assist the manager to plan breeding programs and grow schedules to obtain maximum efficiency.
• Pay close attention to detail, in order to avoid expensive fish losses
• Getting fish ready for sale, gutting them and packing them in ice for transport
• Assist in fish processing.
• Maintaining buildings and equipment, involving basic joinery, plumbing and electrical work.
• Any other work as may be assigned by the farm manager.
Expected Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Candidates should possess OND / HND / Bachelor's Degrees with 2 - 5 years relevant work experience.
• Updated knowledge of fish health and nutrition
• Be organized, have good communication and interpersonal skill.
• Have the ability to multitask.
