About the role

Are you passionate about working with horses and seeking an exciting career in a further education environment? We are currently looking for a skilled an enthusiastic Equine Technician/Groom to join our team on a part time basis and contribute to the education and development of the students in our equine studies programmes at Northumberland College, Kirkley Hall campus.

Kirkley Hall Campus benefits from the equestrian centre, a working farm, a licenced zoo and the extensive woods and natural environments of the Kirkley estates. Kirkley Hall works with local employers and is currently undergoing exciting developments aligned to the delivery of T level provision. As an equine technician/groom you will play a crucial role in supporting the equine studies programme assisting with the practical care of the horse within the educational setting.

About the Candidate

The successful applicant will be responsible for providing daily care, feeding, grooming and overall stable management to ensure that the welfare and health needs of all horses are met. They will assist teaching staff in preparing horses for both riding lessons and practical sessions. They will assist in equine related events and the general upkeep of the stables, arenas and equipment. They will maintain accurate records as required and ensure compliance with health and safety regulation to promote a safe working environment.

The successful candidate will hold a relevant Level 3 qualification and GCSE Maths and English at grade 4 or above (or equivalent). The successful candidate will show values aligned to those of the college of respect, innovation, ambition and authenticity.
