An affiliate of Seaboard Overseas and Trading Group, Minoterie de Matadi offers a full range of flour which serves a variety of needs for customers. Our products include: Special flour, long conservation flour, complete flour, break flour, patisserie flour, cake flour, industrial bakery flour, and others, for bakeries. We also produce Patisserie flour which is specially developed to make bread and patisserie at home for consumers. We operate in the DRC and serve consumers in the Bas Congo, greater Kinshasa region and in the up river interior of the country. We are the market leader in the wheat flour industry offering products of high quality and value.

General Purpose

Overall responsibility for the performance of the milling operations, evaluating performance through a comprehensive set of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and ensuring efficiency of the milling personnel.

Key Tasks & Responsibilities
• Optimize the flour extraction rate according to industry standards.
• Analyze the causes of low extraction rates and implement appropriate measures for improvement.
• Maintain high-quality flour production in accordance with flour specifications.
• Ensure and optimize bran production to minimize flour yield losses.
• Manage production schedule and optimize operations to ensure efficiency.
• Perform daily controls of the settings and efficiency of all milling line equipment.
• Ensure efficient the efficient management of production lines and critical processes, adhering to established guidelines and best practices.
• Ensure security and hygiene across all company installations.
• Utilize KPIs as a daily management tool to enhance operational efficiency, including deviation analysis, development of improvement plans, and team training.
• Responsible for the discharge of wheat from the vessels and loading of pellets to the vessel.
• Responsible for the management of the wheat and flour bin inventory.
• Continuous improvement of operations and identification of new technologies.
• Establishment of food safety policies and implementation of procedures.
• Ensure that the company meets and exceeds local safety and environmental regulations.
• Implement and improve the company’s standard operation procedures and policies.
• Provide accurate production and inventory figures to the Finance department.
• Oversee the identification of production employees’ training needs and provide professional follow-up.
• Manage inventory and stock control for goods and items essential to the mill’s operation and related processes (excluding wheat). This includes bags, additives, spare parts, fuel, water, and tools.
• Guarantee that the products meet market expectations, and handle customer complaints in a professional manner, resolving them within the company’s specified timeline.
• Ensure that all employees adhere to and uphold the implemented safety procedures.

Education & Experience
• A milling degree or accredited certificate in Milling Science.
• 5+ year grain milling experience as a Chief/ Head Miller.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Experience with HACCP principles and application.
• Experience understanding and applying principles of food safety.
• Proficient in wheat and flour analysis, with the ability to interpret flour and dough analyses in relation to their impact on the end product.
• Proficient in assessing flour quality for various bakery products, including baguettes, pan bread, buns, rolls, cakes, biscuits, and flatbreads.
• Knowledge of continuous improvement tools such as DMAIC, root cause analysis, and lean six sigma.
• Knowledge of maintenance practices, asset criticality, lubrication practices and inspections practices.
• Proficiency in MS Office and MS Teams and CAD preferred.
• Fluency in both French and English.
• Ability to regularly work odd hours due to operational demands.
• Experience working in developing countries preferred.

Working Environment/Conditions

Must be in good physical health due to the physical remoteness of location and operations.

Must be able to operate outside of normal comfort zone at times
