Task description
To provide an in-house convenience store service for Residents of the Thomson Centre
To sell merchandise to Residents, staff and the general public
To provide an opportunity for Residents to socialize
Minimum Age
17
Skills needed:
Ability to handle cash and make change
Good interpersonal skills
Ability to work independently
Comfort with numbers & using a calculator
Detail-oriented record keeping
Understanding of Residents with cognitive and physical limitations
Reliability
Patience
Ability to communicate well with diverse populations
Willingness to accept supervision
Responsibilities
Follow “Opening and Closing Procedure”
Serve customers in a polite and courteous manner
Maintain confidentiality
Receive cash and make change
Record sales
Note when stock is low and record items needed on shopping list
Balance cash at beginning and end of shift
Assist with pricing when necessary
Time commitment
2.5 hr shift weekday afternoon (flexible number of shifts per month)
