Malawi AIDS Counselling and Resource Organization (MACRO) is a locally registered non-governmental organization (NGO) established in 1995 to complement Government’s efforts in in the fight against HIV and AIDS and other health related issues. MACRO’s Vision is ‘A Malawian populace that enjoys good quality of life be it physical, mental and social wellbeing’ and its Mission is ‘to provide high quality HIV and AIDS and other health related services to the Malawian population.

With funding from USAID through World Education Inc. (Bantwana) and FHI360 MACRO is implementing the Ana Patsogolo Activity (APA) and Meeting Targets and Maintaining Epidemic Control (EPIC) Projects in Blantyre, Machinga and Zomba districts. In order to efficiently and effectively execute its mandate, MACRO is inviting applications from suitably qualified candidates to fill the following vacant position

Monitoring and Evaluation Officer (1)

Location: Machinga

Key Duties and Responsibilities

To support all M&E initiatives for assigned partners/projects including monitoring data quality, tracking the progress of activities, and contributing to staff capacity building initiatives.

To oversee and maintain the project’s M&E framework of assigned project areas, including the coordination of regular updates, data collection and quality assurance.

To support M&E Manager in creating a framework and procedures for the monitoring and evaluation of project activities.

To further develop the M&E framework of the project, including the development of new indicators, data collection tools, and M&E guidelines when new activities or strategies are being implemented.

To support the M&E Manager in defining and implementing the key project performance indicators as well as monitoring them throughout the duration of the projects.

To reviewing the performance of existing management information systems to help identify potential modifications or resources.

To conduct quarterly data quality assurance (DQA), targeted mentorship and supportive supervision on documentation and reporting at supported facilities

Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Public Health, Social Sciences or related field with emphasis on qualitative and quantitative methods, monitoring and evaluation.

3 years’ experience monitoring and evaluation and data management for a HIV/AIDS or any health related project

Required Knowledge and Skills

Motivated, enthusiastic, sensitive and genuine desire to serve alongside others

Knowledge of computer packages-SPSS, STRATA and MS Office applications

Skills in creating data base (Access/Excel)

Data management and back up

Familiar with PEPFAR reporting systems

Excellent analytical skills.

Excellent report writing skills.

Excellent presentation and communication skills.

Fluency in written and spoken English and Chichewa.
