Holy Family Mission Hospital (HFMH) is under Christian Health Association of Malawi (CHAM) under the Archdiocese of Blantyre of the Roman Catholic Church. It is situated in Phalombe District. Applications from suitably qualified persons to fill the vacant position below are being invited:

JOB TITLE: PRINCIPAL HOSPITAL ADMINISTRATOR (GRADE G)

Reporting to the board of governors, the holder will be the overall in-charge of the hospital in planning, directing and coordinating medical and health Services.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Providing overall direction and leadership to the hospital, ensuring that all aspects of the institution are at optimum level of performance to the best interest of all stakeholders.

2. Conducting and administering fiscal operations including accounting, planning, authorizing expenditures establishing rates for services and coordinating financial reporting.

3. Reviewing and analyzing facility activities and data to aid in planning and cash and risk management and to improve service utilization

4. Maintaining communication among governing board, medical staff and department heads by attending board meetings and coordinating interdepartmental functions

5. Directing or conducting recruitment, hiring and training of staff and establishing work schedules

6. Developing sustainable strategic plans that achieve the growth ambitions of the Archdiocese through the Council of Governors.

7. Driving the performance of the hospital through management team

8. Making sure that there is a high level of compliance of all legislative and regulatory requirements and instruments at all levels

9. Maintaining a positive public image of the hospital.

10. Leading management team in reporting to the board of governors on operational, financial and strategic matters

Skills/Abilities

Strong management and customer service skills

Demonstrated understanding of the health care environment

Excellent communication skills

Comfortable in interacting with senior level leadership

Ability to define priorities and to assign resources in pursuit of short-and long-term goals

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

Aminimum of Bachelor’s Degree in Public Administration/Business Administration or Bachelor of Science in Health Management or related field from a recognized university

Five years’ experience in management position
