Local Government Service Commission is inviting applications from suitably qualified Malawians for the following vacancies existing at M’mbelwa District Council.
POSITION: FOOD AND NUTRITION OFFICER
GRADE : I/M7
EDUCATION QUALIFICATIONS:
BSc in General Agriculture/Human Nutrition/Food Science/Food Technology/Home Economics or any related field from a recognized/accredited institution.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsible to the Director of Agriculture, Environment and Natural Resources (DAENR) through the Chief Agriculture Officer (CAO) on interpretation and implementation of sound food and nutrition policies that could be translated into tangible benefits at household level.
DUTIES:
Interpret the food and nutrition policy and formulate strategies for implementation.
Prepare annual work plans and budgets.
Plan, implement, monitor and evaluate food and nutrition programs in conjunction with other SMSs at district level.
Plan and conduct in-service training for Extension
Staff on food and nutrition related matters.
Liaise with Ministries of Health, Community Services,
NGOs and other organizations on matters relating to food and nutrition and food security programs.
Develop and disseminate food and nutrition technical messages and materials for staff and farmers on a regular basis.
Initiate the identification of model villages.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Organization of food and nutrition surveillance and nutrition education initiative.
Contacts with Ministries of Health, Community Services, NGOs, etc.
Responsibilities for surveillance and nutrition education materials and equipment.
