Local Government Service Commission is inviting applications from suitably qualified Malawians for the following vacancies existing at M’mbelwa District Council.

POSITION: SENIOR LAND RESOURCES CONSERVATION OFFICER

GRADE : H/M6

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:

BSc Degree in Agriculture, Earth Sciences and Environmental Studies plus a minimum of five years experience in the field of Land Resources Conservation at Grade I level.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsible to the Director of Agriculture, Environment and Natural Resources (DAENR) through the Chief Agriculture Officer (CAO) for execution of Land Resources Conservation Programmes in the District.

DUTIES:

Advise farmers and other land users on conservation plans, problems and alternative solutions, and provide technical and planning assistance.

Supervise implementation of sustainable land management practices in the district.

Participate on work teams to plan, develop, and implement sustainable land and water management programmes in the district.

Develop, conduct and/or participate in surveys, studies and investigations of various land uses, gathering information for use in developing corrective action plans.

Provide information, knowledge, expertise, and training to Government and other stakeholders on sustainable land management practices.
