Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Project Manager for the “A Good Start” project in Tanzania. This role is ideal for a professional with a background in public health or medical sciences who is eager to lead a crucial initiative aimed at improving neonatal care. The project manager will oversee the implementation of the “A Good Start” project, focusing on reducing perinatal and neonatal deaths and enhancing care quality in rural Tanzania.
Contract Type:
- Fixed-term, full-time (100%) for a minimum of 3 years
- Location: Morogoro, Tanzania, with frequent travel to Ulanga and Kilombero Districts
- Start Date: February 2025
Key Responsibilities:
Project Implementation and Technical Support:
- Lead and monitor project implementation, ensuring progress aligns with milestones and donor requirements.
- Develop and manage work plans, reports, and legal documents (e.g., MOUs with authorities).
- Propose evidence-based improvements for the project and oversee their integration.
Human Resources, Administration, Finance, and Procurement:
- Lead, manage, and mentor the project team, including recruiting new staff as needed.
- Ensure effective management of human, financial, and material resources.
- Oversee the project budget, ensuring efficient and effective use of funds.
Monitoring, Research, and Reporting:
- Monitor project progress, analyze data, and use findings to guide project actions.
- Lead operational research, including drafting publications and disseminating results.
- Prepare and submit high-quality project reports to authorities and donors.
Partnership, Representation, Coordination, and Policy Dialogue:
- Engage relevant stakeholders and authorities in project management processes.
- Seek new partnerships, conduct policy dialogue, and enhance SolidarMed’s visibility locally, nationally, and internationally.
Qualifications:
- Medical Doctor, Pediatrician, or Nurse Midwife with at least 5 years of clinical experience in maternal and neonatal health, preferably in Sub-Saharan Africa.
- Proficient in project management tools, including financial and human resource management.
- Strong organizational, communication, and negotiation skills.
- Expertise in managing multiple complex processes independently.
- Experience in strategic planning, budgeting, and cost optimization.
- Team-oriented with excellent interpersonal skills.
- Creative, adaptable, and a self-learner.
- Experience in knowledge sharing, networking, and implementation research.
- Fluent in English (written and spoken); Kiswahili is an asset and willingness to learn is required.
